Stefan Hensel

“My name is Stefan Hensel. I am the founder and managing director of PEDIA gGmbH, a non-profit educational organization, as well as KINTA – Social Sector Real Estate and Consulting. For many years, I have been committed to the fields of education, consulting, training, and international project development – with the goal of combining educational quality, economic sustainability, and intercultural exchange.”

 Education with Vision

In 2009, I founded the non-profit PEDIA Bildungs-GmbH. Today, we operate twelve kindergartens, including several with a bilingual focus, as well as after-school care programs at various locations. Our language priorities are Chinese, Russian, and Spanish – because we believe in the power of linguistic and cultural diversity. Our institutions have received multiple awards, including the Hamburg Education Prize, the “House of Little Scientists” certificate, and several recognitions from KITA21.

Social Sector Real Estate and Consulting

With KINTA, we support providers in developing new educational locations and expanding existing structures. We combine pedagogical expertise with economic know-how and accompany projects in the areas of concept development, handover consulting, and location-based educational planning. Our goal is to create future-proof educational spaces, convincing both in content and construction.

International Cooperation

A particular focus of my work lies in international exchange in early childhood education. I actively promote German-Chinese, German-Taiwanese, and German-Israeli relations in the educational sector. We regularly attend international conferences, visit partner institutions, and develop joint projects with professionals from around the world.

Personal Commitment

Already during my studies in Education with a focus on Social Management at Leuphana University Lüneburg, I engaged deeply with Confucianism and Chinese educational traditions. In 2012, I was able to put many of these insights into practice – with the opening of the first German-Chinese kindergarten in Hamburg.

In July 2021, I was appointed by the Senate of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg as the Commissioner for Jewish Life and for Combating and Preventing Antisemitism – a responsibility I fulfill with great dedication and personal conviction.

My Approach

I firmly believe that every person has the right to freely develop their personality. Diversity is not an obstacle but an opportunity for profound learning and meaningful encounters. Openness, respect, and the ability to see differences as enrichment shape my work – within the team, in education, and in international cooperation.

I look forward to getting in touch with you and developing new ideas and projects together.
